THE STORY
OF THE INFANT OF PRAGUE
An unknown man living in
the 17th century decided that he would donate his most treasured possession to
the nuns in a Carmelite convent in Prague, Czechoslovakia. This prized
possession was a beautiful statue of the Infant Jesus clothed in red silk.
When he presented his gift to the nun he said, "As long as you venerate this
Child, you shall not want."
Upon receiving the
statue the convent's financial difficulties disappeared almost immediately.
When word of the power of the Divine Infant spread, devotion to the "Infant of
Prague" began to flourish. Today, this devotion is observed throughout the
world.
Over the years one of the
most popular customs has been exchanging Infant of Prague statues among friends.
People who have devotion to the Infant of Prague have no doubt in the power of
their devotion. The Infant Jesus promises, "The more you honor Me, the
more I will bless you."
We celebrate our
Infant of Prague Novena Tuesday evenings, 7:30 p.m. Come and implore
the Infant Jesus for your needs. |
